Enchanting Norway - Bergen, Flåm and Oslo

Fly from London Heathrow, or your local airport, to Oslo, Norway's fascinating capital. On arrival, transfer into the city centre by rail and continue to your hotel.

Head out on a guided walking tour to see the main sights. Begin at the new state Opera House, an award-winning example of modern architecture, before heading to Norway's magnificent 19th-century Royal Palace. Your afternoon is free to get to know the city under your own steam, and there's a wide choice of museums to visit, including the Viking Ship and Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum and the Edvard Munch Museum, where you can admire the famous expressionist painting, 'The Scream'.

With another day to keep sightseeing, why not take a walk along Karl Johans Gate? Lined with popular bars, restaurants and shops, it eventually leads to the city's Royal Palace where you can see the time-honoured changing of the guard ceremony. Otherwise, you could take a cruise on Oslofjord, admiring the city's skyline from a unique perspective.

Travel on Northern Europe's highest railway, the Bergen Railway for phenomenal views as you pass through some untamed scenery. Setting off in southern Norway, the train starts its ascent into the mountains, travelling alongside deep fjords and passing through numerous tunnels to reach the stations at Arna and Dale. After the Trollkona tunnel - the longest on the line - you reach Bergen, situated on the edge of Norway's fjord country.

Embark on a full-day excursion that starts with a journey on the iconic Flåm Railway, travelling along one of the steepest lines in existence. A branch line of the Bergen Railway, this scenic route takes you on a wonderful 12.5-mile journey past snow-capped mountains and remote, mountain-side farms. Following free time to discover Flåm and grab lunch, take to the waters for a cruise along two of Norway's tranquil fjords, Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, the perfect way to experience both UNESCO-listed fjords, each surrounded by Alpine meadows, charming villages and cascading waterfalls. After this exciting excursion, a coach transfers you back to your hotel. This evening, you enjoy a final dinner with your group in Bergen.
