Flåm Railway – Information & Tours

Branching off from the  Bergen Railway, the scenic Flåm Railway takes passengers on a wonderful journey up one of the steepest railway lines in the world. On the journey between remote Myrdal and  Flåm, located beside the stunning Aurlandsfjord, the train negotiates curves, twists and tunnels - 18 of which were drilled by hand.

Leaving the waterside, the railway ascends into the mountains and plateaus, revealing fews of majestic waterfalls, canyons and dramatic fjords along the way. Inside this unique train, passengers are treated to wide panoramic windows and traditional wooden interiors, reflecting the charm of vintage Scandinavian rail travel. The scenery is truly spectacular, with meandering rivers and cascading waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and remote farms unfolding outside the window as you travel towards Myrdal at 2,838 feet (865m).

Kjosfossen Waterfall

The journey pauses to marvel at the roaring cascade of Kjosfossen Waterfall, one of Norway's most breathtaking natural treasures, embodying the essence of Norway with raw natural power and stunning scenery. If you're lucky, you might even glimpse Huldra, the elusive forest spirit, dancing gracefully to a haunting local folk song.
