Designed and constructed for high ranking Kremlin officials and to host foreign dignitaries, it is claimed that MS Tolstoy is the most luxurious and comfortable cruise ship ever to be built for Russian rivers.
The ship features luxurious décor and elegant public areas, including the Kostroma Lounge, the Kostroma Bar and the Pushkin Library. There is a spacious Sun Deck and a smaller Patio Deck, as well as an indoor swimming pool with sliding sun roof, a bar adjacent to the pool, sauna, beauty salon and souvenir shop. Concerts and lectures on Russian history and culture are held on board in the Tchaikovsky Hall. The ship offers a laundry service and an on-board doctor, as well as safety deposit boxes at the reception desk (these services are payable locally). Please note that this ship does not have a lift between decks.
Meals are freshly prepared by the on-bard chefs and are taken in the ship's Restaurant. Breakfast typically includes a selection of breads, croissants, pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, smoked salmon, cheeses, cold meats and sausages. Lunch invariably features hot or cold appetisers, homemade soups, a selection of entrees and desserts. High tea - including a selection of cakes and pastries - is available in the mid-afternoon and tea and coffee are available 24 hours a day. The menu for dinner features regional specialities and complimentary free-flowing wines from local vintners. The dress code for dinner is, in the main, smart casual; there is one semi-formal evening on board (the Captain's Farewell Dinner) but please note that formal attire is not required at any point during the cruise.
We include accommodation in E grade cabins on the main deck. The cabins are 110 square feet, with large picture windows that open, wardrobe space, a dressing table and bathroom with a WC and shower. Upgrades to higher grades of cabin are available at a supplement.
