Getting to St Moritz

Flight from London to Zurich

Your journey begins with your flight from London to Zurich. On arrival you'll take the train from Zurich to Chur, and from Chur the train climbs higher into the mountains before arriving in St. Moritz. Known for its glamourous guests and its glitzy atmosphere, St Moritz is a sophisticated resort town set in beautiful scenery.

Alternatively, take a relaxing two days of train travel from London to St Moritz. Begin by taking the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Nord, and travel from Paris Gare de Lyon to Basel where you'll spend the night. The next day travel from Basel to Chur and from Chur to St Moritz.

Bernina Express

Day 2 – The Bernina Express

Bernina Express

You'll board the Bernina Express today, for a very special journey. On this 100 years old route you'll make your way through tunnels and over bridges, including the landmark Landwasser Viaduct, passing deep ravines and picturesque waterfalls. You'll travel in Panoramic Carriages on this heritage railway, enjoying the rugged landscape of the Engadine Valley, before this historic route takes you through the Albula Tunnel and over the Bernina Pass. You'll then descends towards Poschiavo, the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Pretty pastel houses line the street as you continue on and cross into Italy. Your journey ends in Tirano, where the return journey begins back to St Moritz.

Glacier Express

Day 3 – The Glacier Express

Glacier Express

You'll board the magnificent Glacier Express today, beginning your panoramic journey with the descent towards Chur. The train then climbs steadily upwards into the snow-capped mountains where you'll reach the journey's highest point, before descending along the Rhone Valley aboard 'The Slowest Express Train in the World'. Your journey takes you through Swiss scenes of green meadows and turquoise river gorges, before the final part of your journey climbs back into the mountains, arriving at the car free village of Zermatt, where you'll see your first dramatic views of the iconic Matterhorn mountain. Optionally you may decide to enjoy a two or three course lunch onboard.

Choose a Classic carriage aboard the Glacier Express or upgrade to First class or Excellence class. First class has the benefit of more space to stretch out, for extra leg room, and fewer passengers in your carriage. Excellence class gives you a much more special journey, with guaranteed window seats, a five-course menu with pairing wines for each course, and a dedicated concierge. But each carriage, whichever class you choose, benefits from panoramic windows.

On arrival in Zermatt you'll transfer to your hotel for the night. Choose from our handpicked 4* and 5* hotels, on a B&B basis.

Please note: There will be no Glacier Express trains running between 13th October to 7th December.

Day 4 - Zermatt

Zermatt

Enjoy a free day in Zermatt today, and discover this charming Swiss car-free village in the mountains. With breathtaking views of the iconic Matterhorn, it' a lovely village for a walk around and there are many cafes. Restaurants and bars for soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying some lunch. Alternatively, choose from on of the optional excursions which are bookable at a supplement.

Interlaken

Day 5 – Zermatt to Interlaken

Toady you'll travel from Zermatt to Interlaken, in the Jungfrau region, by train. Interlaken is an alpine town that benefits from incredible views of three magnificent mountains - Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Take some time to wander around and soak in the alpine atmosphere in your free time today, shop for traditional Swiss souvenirs like chocolates and watches, and take in the incredible scenery, or choose from one of our optional excursions which are bookable at a supplement.

After you've explored Interlaken today you'll transfer to your hotel for the night. Choose one of our 4* or 5* hotels, on a B&B basis.

Jungfrau Express

Day 6 – The Jungfrau Express

Jungfrau Express

Today you'll take the Jungfrau Express to Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest station, where you'll experience the 'Top of Europe'. You can choose to ascend and descend by gondola from Grindelwald Terminal or by traditional cogwheel train and enjoy the famous Sphinx Observatory, which sits at the top of a rock formation overlooking the Swiss Alps. You'll travel by cogwheel train through the final section of the route, from the Eiger Galcier, into a tunnel that cuts through the Eiger. Here, carved-out viewing windows show the scenery of tumbling glaciers from inside the tunnel.

Inbound Travel

Day 7 – Interlaken to the UK

Flight from Zurich to London

Your journey comes to an end today, but first you'll travel by train from Interlaken to Zurich airport, giving you one last chance to appreciate the rolling scenery as you pass by. From Zurich you'll take your flight back home to the UK.

Rail Interlaken - London

Alternatively, take a one-day rail journey from Interlaken to Basel, then from Basel to Paris Gare de Lyon and from Paris Nord to London St Pancras on the Eurostar.
