A division of Great Rail Journeys, UK's leading operator of holidays by rail
The 3-star MS Sanssouci's name means 'without a care', and with its superb facilities, delicious meals served throughout the day and the fantastic service of the on-board crew, your cruise will surely be carefree. Carrying just 80 passengers, the ship offers a truly intimate experience, and the vessel is designed to navigate some of the narrower waterways that are beyond the reach of larger ships.
Public Areas
The ship's public areas are spread across all three decks, and
include the stylish reception area and a cosy library offering a
selection of titles. There is also a panorama lounge and bar, which
is a fantastic place to unwind; the large windows offer an
unimpeded view of the river landscape as it drifts by. Other
facilities include a small wellness centre with fitness machines
and a sauna. The spacious sun deck on the top deck of the ship has
sun loungers, allowing you to make the most of the climate (weather
permitting).
Dining
Meals are a large part of the experience on board MS
Sanssouci; and as such they are eagerly anticipated throughout
the journey. The team of on-board kitchen staff creates a varied
and enticing menu, making use of fresh produce which is locally
sourced wherever possible.
Breakfast generally consists of a rich and varied buffet, with a selection of breads and pastries to choose from, as well as fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals. Cold meats, cheese and a selection of hot options are also available - all accompanied by tea, coffee and fruit juices.
For lunch you'll enjoy a choice of options from the varying daily menu, with full table service by the superb on-board waiting staff. Typically lunch begins with hot and cold appetizers and freshly-made soups, followed by a varied selection of main courses.
Every evening on board MS Sanssouci we dine together, in one sitting, to enjoy a delicious dinner, with table service and a choice of options for every course. On most evenings the dress code is 'casual elegance', although evening wear is requested for the captain's dinner and farewell dinner.
