Discovering Rome

You have two days to explore the 'Eternal City' of Rome today under your own steam. One of the oldest cities in Europe, there is a plethora of fantastic history and activity to explore and experience whilst here. Why not discover for yourself some of the most well-known hotspots? The stunning and centuries old Trevi Fountain is justly famous for its beauty, with its exquisite Baroque sculptures carved out of a lovely white limestone that practically glows in the warm Italian sun. From here, perhaps venture to the Spanish Steps, retracing the steps of Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn in the film 'Roman Holiday'.

Of course, Vatican City is always worth a visit. This tiny area is not only home to the head of the Catholic Church, the Pope, but it is actually its own country - making it the smallest country in the world. Here, you may find a number architectural wonders, including the Sistine Chapel, famously filled with paintings and sculptures by renaissance artists Michelangelo and Botticelli, among others, and St Peter's Basilica, said to contain the tomb of the first Pope and one of Christ's Apostles, Saint Peter.
