Day 1 Florence

To Florence

Make your way to Florence by air today. On arrival, make your way to your 4-Star hotel. Florence is known as the 'jewel of the Renaissance', having earned the name through its vast collection of art and architecture from the period. After checking in to your hotel, perhaps venture out this evening to discover the many treasures of the place Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci once called home.

Exploring Florence

For the next two days, you are at leisure to explore the magnificent city of Florence. This incredible city has beauty around every corner, thanks to it being the birthplace of the Renaissance, a period of history where music, art, literature, and even science were growing exponentially to influence and expand the minds of people around Europe. In this city, you find one fifth of all Renaissance art, including Botticelli's Venus. One of the best places to discover the varied and incredible collections of artwork is the Uffizi, one of the most famous galleries in the world. This palatial building is also historically significant, having being built by the infamous Medici family, the scheming dynasty that boasted various titles, including the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, the founders of the Medici Bank, and even, on three separate occasions, Pope.

The breathtaking Florence Cathedral is also worth a visit. Boasting of a mixture of architectural types, including Gothic and Renaissance, this magnificent building is famous for the enormous red Brunelleschi's Dome, which stands proudly over the Florentine skyline, along with the intricate Giotto's Bell Tower. After feasting your eyes on the Renaissance wonders, perhaps take in a change of scenery and wander over Ponte Vecchio, a medieval bridge that looks out over the River Arno and is filled with jewellery shops.
