London to Bayeux

Travel on the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris' Gare du Nord station. On arrival, transfer to the Gare Saint-Lazare. This is easy by either public metro or local taxi. From here, catch the local rail service to the medieval city of Bayeux and check into your 4-Star hotel for a 3-night stay.

Day 2 Normandy Beach

Explore the Battlefields of D-Day

After breakfast, this morning, meet your specialist battlefield guide in Bayeux before setting out on a full-day tour. The first stop of your explorations is Longues-sur-Mer, the site of a German coastal gun battery and still equipped with guns that were firing on D-Day. Next, you'll stop at Gold Beach, a section of coast designated to the British army. There'll also be an opportunity to see the remains of the artificial harbours built by the allies to help supply the push inland. Juno Beach is also included, here you can visit the Juno Beach Centre Museum and learn more about the Canadian involvement in WW2 before paying your respects to the fallen at the Canadian War Cemetery.

Following lunch, continue to Omaha Beach, the area where American forces landed and which would later become known as 'Bloody Omaha'. Learn about the events of that day as they unfolded, then visit the cemetery at Colleville to pay your respects to the men and women who died during the assault. The coach will then return you to central Bayeux.

Enjoy time at leisure

Enjoy some free time today. Perhaps make a visit to the historically significant Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events of a much older, though no less famous, battlefield. You could also visit the city's 13th-century cathedral or the Museum of the Battle of Normandy, to round off your D-Day experiences.
