Spend time exploring three of Spain's major cities in this suggested itinerary by GRJ Independent. Discover Barcelona's intoxicating blend of architecture, art and culture, explore the outstanding landmarks of Seville and finish up in Spain's lively capital city, Madrid.
Your journey begins as you depart from St Pancras International by Eurostar for Paris. Cross the city to board the train at Paris Gare de Lyon, travelling southwards through France, across the border into Spain and on to beautiful Barcelona.
The fascinating capital of Catalonia incorporates an intoxicating blend of architecture, art, culture, nightlife, parks, and beaches. Perhaps start the day with a walk along Barcelona's most famous street - Las Ramblas. Here you'll discover all manner of shops, pavement cafés and street entertainment. Then continue to the beautiful garden complex Park Güell to view more Gaudí highlights.
For a leisurely day away from the city streets, take an excursion to Montserrat. As the site of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Benedictine abbey, this majestic mountain is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Spain.
This morning, bid farewell to Barcelona and travel southwest into Andalucía and on to Seville. In this enchanting city, you'll discover a lively mix of fabulous architecture, medieval streets, plazas and museums.
A guided tour provides a great way to see Seville's most important landmarks. Seville is packed full of outstanding landmarks and impressive monuments including the Gothic Cathedral, the Renaissance Casa de Pilatos, the Torre del Oro (Golden Tower), the Macarena Church and the Alcazar Royal Palace.
Heading north today, you leave Andalucía for our next highlight; Spain's lively capital Madrid. First stop for most visitors is Madrid's vibrant Plaza Mayor. In this huge central square you can admire ornate architecture and relax at one of the many restaurants and bars that line the square.
Today you may choose to visit Parque del Buen Retiro. One of the city's largest parks, this beautiful space is filled with impressive sculptures and monuments, galleries, and a peaceful lake. Meanwhile art lovers are spoilt for choice in Madrid with world-class art galleries including Museo del Prado, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, where you'll find masterpieces by Spain's best-loved artists including Picasso, Dalí and Miró.
Today transfer to Madrid airport for your British Airways flight back to the UK.
