Day 1 Amsterdam

To Amsterdam

Your holiday begins aboard the Eurostar service to either Brussels or Paris. From here you continue by rail to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, checking into your 4-Star hotel on arrival.

Day 2 Keukenhof Gardens
Keukenhof Gardens

Keukenhof Park

Today enjoy an excursion to the famous Keukenhof Gardens, where you can admire the fantastic floral displays. About seven million tulip bulbs are planted here each year along with crocuses, daffodils, orchids and other flowers, creating an explosion of brilliant colour.

The gardens only open in the spring, to ensure the best possible seasonal display of the beautiful flowering plants. Across 80 acres of parkland, Keukenhof also has tranquil ponds, sculpture gardens, greenhouses, a windmill open to the public, and several cafés. One particular delight of this incredible park is the Historical Garden, where some 400 years of tulip cultivation is explored through carefully-planted flower beds.

Here you can find a reproduction of the original Dutch tulip garden, planted by botanist and doctor Carolus Clusius, which inspired enthusiasm for the flower and resulted in the tulip's affinity with the Netherlands. Keukenhof's other gardens are still wonderfully scenic, with thematic designs to suit varying interests.

Day 3 Amstel River, Amsterdam
Amstel River, Amsterdam

At leisure in Amsterdam

Spend today exploring Amsterdam at your leisure, home to some fascinating museums such as the Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt House, and Van Gogh Museum. Featuring some of the artist's best-known works, such as 'Almond Blossom' and 'The Bedroom', the museum boasts the world's largest collection of the painter's work. Known for their vibrant colours and hectic brushstrokes, Van Gogh's delightful works are celebrated posthumously in this incredible gallery.

Alternatively you could simply take a stroll along the paths of one of Amsterdam's tree lined canals brimming with barges and water taxis, bridges aplenty cross the river that wind around Amsterdam.

Day 4 Delft

The Hague, Delft and Madouradam Model Village

A half-day excursion today begins with a visit to The Hague, a city on the west coast known for its Gothic-style Binnenhof and being the site of the Netherlands' seat of parliament, despite not being its capital city. Here you'll enjoy entrance to the miniature city of Madurodam, an interactive park featuring many immaculate, miniature replicas of famous Dutch landmarks. Continue to Delft, one of the prettiest towns in the Netherlands, famous for its pottery. The compact city centre is small enough to cross on foot in less than 15 minutes, making it easy to explore. Tree-lined canals and cobbled streets wind away from Markt, Delft's large central square. The famous artist Johannes Vermeer spent his life in Delft. On the quieter streets and canals, you get an impression of the original town that inspired his lifetime of work. Delft is one of Holland's historical centres and home to the Dutch royal family, The House of Orange.

Delft is probably best known for the blue-and-white porcelain and pottery that originates from the area known as Delftware. Delft ceramics have been an important export product for more than 400 years. Royal Delft, established in 1653, is the last remaining Delftware factory from the 17th century. The world famous Royal Delftware is still entirely hand-painted according to centuries-old tradition.
