A guided walking tour of Canterbury

This morning we discover Canterbury's rich history with a guided walking tour of some of its main sights, such as the atmospheric monastery ruins and the famous King's School. Canterbury's centre is remarkably well preserved, with the remains of its 14th century city wall and great examples of half-timbered buildings. Your afternoon is then free for you to explore at your own pace. Be sure to visit the stunning cathedral, the city's major landmark and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perhaps also take in the Canterbury Tales exhibition, which recreates 14th century England through Geoffrey Chaucer's famous narrative.

Day 3

The Bluebell Railway and Chartwell

Today we enjoy a nostalgic steam-hauled journey on the preserved Bluebell Railway through the glorious, flowerfilled Sussex countryside. The railway was England's first heritage line and remains one of its most popular, thanks in no small part to the wonderful scenery it passes. We continue by coach to Chartwell, where Winston Churchill lived from 1924 until his death in 1965. Filled with treasures, the house also features a studio where he painted.
