From the dramatic Pacific Ocean setting of Vancouver, to the laid-back city of Toronto, this incredible adventure takes us across Canada by rail.
Fly to Toronto from the UK today. On arrival, you will be transferred to the 4-Star Chelsea Hotel (or similar) where you will stay for the next 3 nights. Once called York, Toronto has traded hands a number of times throughout history, once as a settlement by the Iroquois and as a French trading post. Thanks to its diverse history and huge immigration over the last two centuries, Toronto is seen as one of the most global and international cities in Northern America.
Leave behind the Toronto bustle for the remarkable natural beauty of Niagara Falls. On this full-day tour, start with a scenic drive through Niagara's verdant wine region en route to the falls. Break for a buffet lunch before hopping on a Hornblower Niagara Cruises boat. Cruise up Niagara River for up-close views of the awesome Horseshoe Falls (weather permitting) and then head to the Whirlpool Rapids observation deck. Top off your trip with a stop at a local winery.
Today you board The Canadian, for an iconic journey across the country. Your on-board accommodation is 'no-frills' yet comfortable, consisting of private twin cabins shielded by a heavy curtain for privacy, and access to shared bathroom facilities in the same sleeper car. During the day, wander to one of the observation cars for incredible views of the spectacular Canadian landscape the train passes through, on this truly iconic journey. You enjoy some of the most striking scenery on the route, passing pine forests, glaciers, plunging canyons and soaring peaks.
After arriving in Vancouver, you will make your own way to the 4-Star Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront where you will spend the next 3 nights. You are free to explore Vancouver under your own steam today, we recommends you visit historic Gastown, an area of coffee shops, galleries and native art stores. Also, why not head to experience the exciting scents and sights of Chinatown, and leafy Stanley Park, with its colourful totem poles. Or Granville Island, located in the heart of the city, which boasts a mouth-watering food market. We can arrange a sightseeing tour for you, and also help you to arrange a visit to the Vancouver lookout, or the exhilarating Fly-Over Canada - an incredible virtual reality experience, showcasing incredible vistas of Canada from the skies, from the comfort of your seat!
Today, you will make your way to Vancouver airport for your flight back home. We can arrange transfers or you can use the Vancouver SkyTrain, directly from the centre of the city to the airport (payable locally)

The Canadian was the last Trans-Continental train to be built for the famed Canadian Pacific Railway. Consequently, it is a true classic. The original Streamliner coaches, built from stainless steel, have been fully restored to their 1950s splendour, and today The Canadian can be found traversing the rugged landscape between the cities of Vancouver and Toronto.
Great Rail Journeys' tours on The Canadian include travel in Sleeper Touring Class (formerly Silver and Blue Class), the best accommodation on board. Your private cabin will be furnished with a washbasin, WC, and mirror. During the day, you can also recline in a comfortable armchair.
Each cabin is serviced by professional crew members, who will ensure that you receive complimentary extras such as toiletries, bottled water, and fresh towels. Single and double cabins are available depending on your preference, and showers can be found at the end of the corridor.
The Park Car has a fabulous 1950's designed bar that provides aperitifs and wine, and an observation dome that offers panoramic views of Canada's remarkable scenery. This luxurious cabin is available exclusively to travellers in Sleeper Touring Class - so make the most of it!
