Explore Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and the Amber Fort on this 10 day tour of India. Take a Rickshaw ride through the bazaars of Old Delhi, visit the magical Taj Mahal and imposing Amber Fort and take in the beauty of India's Golden Triangle.
You depart London on an overnight flight to vibrant New Delhi, arriving on the morning of Day 2. This On arrival in Delhi you wiull be met by our representative & transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of you day is at leisure before having dinner at the hotel.
This morning you will be provided with a packed breakfast, and transferred in your private car to Delhi railway station to connect train to Kalka. Upon arrival in Kalka, you will be met by our representative at the station, who will assist you to board the toy train. A packed lunch will be provided on board Kalka To Shimla Train. When you arrive in Shimla and you will be assisted & transferred to your hotel, where you may spend the rest of the evening at leisure and have dinner.
Today after breakfast, you will be met by your Tour Guide at the hotel lobby to proceed for sightseeing of Shimla - visiting the Vice Regal Lodge, Shimla Museum and take a stroll along the Mall. Lunch at Clarkes Hotel and after lunch, enjoy a leisurely stroll back along the Mall to Scandal Point. En-route, it may be possible to have a quick look inside the Gaiety Theatre or Christ Church. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay and dinner. Day 5 is a day at leisure.
Today, after breakfast, check-out and you will be assisted & transferred in your private car to Chandigarh Railway Station to connect train back to Delhi. Upon arrival in Chandigarh, you will be assisted to board the train back to Delhi (packed lunch provided for the train). When you arrive in Delhi, you will be assisted & transferred by private car to the hotel, where your evening is at leisure, with dinner.
Today you have a full-day sightseeing of Old & New Delhi with your local guide. In Old Delhi you will visit the 17th century Jama Masjid and walk through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. You have the option of taking a rickshaw ride through these bazaars. Also visit the Mughal Empire's most opulent fort, the Red Fort for a photo stop. Visit Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.
In the afternoon you'll proceed to New Delhi. Drive past The Presidential Palace - the one-time imperial residence of the British Viceroys - the India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers killed during the Afghan war and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings.
Visit Qutab Minar, the 12th century tower of victory built by a slave king and prototype of all minars (towers) in India. Also visit the 16th century Humayun's tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Spend the evening at leisure and enjoy your evening meal at your hotel.
Today after breakfast, you will be assisted & transferred in your private car to Delhi railway station to connect with the train to Agra. When you arrive at Agra station you will proceed for a visit of Agra Fort with your local Tour Guide. After the visit, check-in at the hotel and later in the afternoon, proceed for a sunset visit of the Taj Mahal (Closed on All Fridays) with your guide, before heading back to the hotel for dinner.
After breakfast, you will be transferred in your private car to Jaipur. En-route you will visit Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital city of the Moughals before heading to the Hotel Laxmi Vilas Palace for lunch. After Lunch, continue your drive to Jaipur. When you arrive in Jaipur you will be assisted for your check-in at the hotel where you can spend the rest of the day at leisure and have dinner at your hotel.
Today, enjoy a half day city tour of Jaipur with your Tour Guide: Visit the City Palace, which is an overwhelming complex of exquisite palaces, gardens and courtyards, decorative art and carved doorways. Afterwards visit Jaipur's Jantar Mantar is the most famous of five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh in India. Jai Singh was a great admirer of progresses and research made in the fields of science and technology, and he was passionate about astronomy. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, with dinner at your hotel.
On Day 11 we leave the hotel for another half day city tour of Jaipur with your Tour Guide, including visiting the Amber Fort, by jeep. Once on top, stroll through the sprawling complex of courtyards and halls. En-route to Amber Fort you will stop and see the `Palace of Winds', otherwise known as Hawa Mahal, with its elaborate façade, extremely intricate with pink sandstone carving. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and have dinner at your hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred in your private car back to Delhi and check-in at the hotel to spend the rest of the day at leisure, with dinner at your hotel. After breakfast on Day 13 you will be assisted & transferred in your private car to Delhi International Airport to connect flight for your homeward flight back to the UK
