Escorted Rail Tours to Chur

Switzerland's oldest town

Chur is the oldest town in Switzerland and is ideally placed for exploring the south-east of the country thanks to its excellent transport links. Whilst it is the end of the line for the SBB main line trains, it is also a key center for the metre-gauge Rhatische Bahn that runs through to St Moritz, Davos, Arosa and into Italy, as well as the Glacier Express line to Disentis. The Tourist Office is located at the station near the bottom of the escalator at the main entrance.

The 12th century cathedral is well worth a visit, combining Gothic and Romanesque styles. The old town is grouped around Martinsplatz with the arcaded Rathaus (Town Hall) dating from 1464 and St Martins Reformed parish church dating from 1491 to 1526. There are many pedestrianised streets to explore through the old town with a good selection of shops, or why not enrich your mind at one of Chur's many museums?
