Today we arrive in the historic city of Cologne. This afternoon, we embark on a guided walking tour of the city, taking in the many sights, including the iconic Cathedral. Along the Moselle to Cochem

We continue our journey into Germany along the stunning valleys of the Moselle, bound of Cochem. Feel free to spend this morning lounging on the sun deck and marvelling at the passing scenery. The town is one of the region's most popular and is dominated by a 1,000 year old castle, resplendent in Renaissance and Baroque furnishing. Upon arrival in Cochem, you may choose to explore the town at leisure or join us for an optional guided walking tour through the narrow alleyways and cobbled streets of this charming location. Later, there is an opportunity to sample some of the region's famous local wines before returning to the ship to continue our cruise.

Koblenz and Rüdesheim

We arrive at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers today, at the beautifully preserved city of Koblenz. Here, we embark on a guided tour of the city, including the wondrous Old Town district. We pass the stunning Electoral Palace building and marvel at the 19th century Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. We then continue sailing along the Rhine, passing rolling vineyards and quaint farmhouses before arriving in the winemaking town of Rüdesheim. Here, there is an optional excursion to discover the town on a guided tour. Alternatively you may choose to do this at your leisure. The looming ruins of Ehrenfels Castle hang over the town atop a rocky promontory and are visible from the valley below. Later, on the optional excursion, there is a chance to discover the history of the mechanical music box at the nearby Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments.

As our cruise ship shores up in Mannheim, there is an optional excursion to the nearby town of Heidelberg, home to one of the oldest university buildings in Europe. Here there is the chance to explore on a guided tour which takes in the town's main landmarks, including the imposing Church of the Holy Spirit and the red sandstone walls of Heidelberg Castle.
