Itinerary
Your holiday begins this evening at London Heathrow, where you meet the Tour Manager and your group of fellow travellers on arrival. Together, we board our international flight to Cape Town, South Africa's oldest city and legislative capital, travelling over the night.
The cosmopolitan city of Cape Town is a cultural melting pot with a fascinating history that dates back thousands of years to the Khoi-San people, the first inhabitants of the Cape. In 1652, the Dutch established a settlement here and were later joined by Asians, followed by French Huguenots and then the British. Today, in addition to boasting this impressive history drawn from global influences, Cape Town is beloved for its scenery, wine, cuisine and culture.

A Train Manager and two engineers are onboard at all times and they are all happy to share their knowledge of the country, route and train with passengers. Dining on the Blue Train is an experience in itself, and the dress code for dinner is formal (jacket and tie for men, evening wear for ladies). Spending a night in London before your tour can make such a difference to the first day of your holiday - you can arrive in the capital in good time, relaxed and ready to join your Tour Manager the next morning. You may even want to take in a show on the West End or dine in one of London's famous restaurants. Perhaps on your return to London, you would like to break your journey with an overnight stay before continuing home.
We can book a wide range of hotels in central London or, for our holidays beginning with a flight, at Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester Airport for the night before or after your holiday. If you require a quote for single occupancy at any of the hotels, please contact us on 01904 734 805.
Buying tickets for UK train services can be a tricky business - there are so many fares to choose from, each with different rules and restrictions. As you are connecting with an international departure, we strongly recommend that you book a fully flexible ticket to ensure that should the departure times for your holiday change, your rail ticket can allow for these changes.
We can book fully-flexible UK rail tickets from your local station to join your holiday whether this be a European holiday from St Pancras or a UK holiday. The prices are competitive and tickets are not restricted to a particular train or time of day, and in most cases offer you a free choice of routes.
For an up to date quote from your local station, please ask one of our Tour Advisors.

Cape Town was incredible. Highlights were the trip around the Cape and up Table Mountain, the V and A Waterfront and the professional support from the local guides and ourTour Manager throughout our adventure. Travelling on the blue train has been a dream of mine for a long time yet the reality was even more amazing, exceeding my expectations in every way. Luxury at every turn , beautiful decor, fitting and fixtures and fabulous food and drink. The friendly staff worked hard at all times to create an ambiance that was so very special. The certificates and memorabilia gifts were a great touch and the whole experience will stay with me forever. Kruger was astonishing, the game drives well organised and safe. The hotels throughout our trip were great, particularly the Kruger Gate. A holiday of a lifetime in every respect. The group size was just right and the pace, whilst busy , meant we saw everything with minimal queueing. Testament to the organisation and hard work of all the team, especially the tour manager, Angie who did all she could possibly have done to make everyone’s holiday perfect . I would have loved an extra day at Kruger Gate just to enjoy this fabulous facility but we have the best of memories and tons of photos to help us remember this incredible trip.

Busy, but well planned and well organised. Tour Manager Angie was outstanding. There is so much to see and to experience on this journey, from incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes to South Africa’s social history and its contrasts. Highly recommended.

This is an amazing trip, 3 holidays in one with the best experiences. Everything was really well organised and ran so smoothly. Angie, the Tour Manager was the best, super supportive and overseeing everything. Cape Town is gorgeous and the day trips from here are so good; the Blue Train is very special, luxurious and relaxing; and Kruger is everything I hoped for.

Amazing itinerary! , amazing hotels ! and absolutely top class tour guides especially Angie our tour manager !! If l had one comment it would be that an extra day at Kruger would be appreciated as the 2 days, although being spent on brilliant safari trips didn’t leave enough time to relax before the long journey home or enjoy the experience of being in such a fabulous hotel !!
