Day 1 – London to Somerset

London to Somerset

Boarding the Britannic Explorer at London Victoria, the promise of an unforgettable luxury journey awaits. Departing in afternoon, you can take time to explore the train's elegant carriages or relax in your private cabin.

As the train heads out of London, England's enchanting countryside unfurls before you. Settle into the dining carriage and savour chef Simon Rogan's Cornish afternoon tea, crafted with the finest ingredients from Cornwall and providing a true taste of British tradition.

You could opt to unwind in the Wellness Suite or relax in the bar with cocktails inspired by native botanicals as the train glides towards Somerset's storied market towns. By twilight, you'll arrive at the West Somerset Railway, a heritage line offering attractive vistas of the Quantocks enroute to the coast. Enjoy a masterfully curated dinner by Chef Rogan, and then, in the Observation Car, savour music and get to know your fellow passengers over a refreshing glass of small-batch gin.

Day 2 – St Ives & St Michael’s Mount

Enjoy a relaxed morning aboard the Britannic Explorer by stepping on to the platform for a first-light experience, or a tranquil lie-in followed by brunch in the dining car.

As the train glides along Devon's stunning southern coast, you'll journey along the famed Riviera Line, where sweeping sea views unfold as you pass charming towns like Teignmouth. Skirting the rugged beauty of Dartmoor enroute to Plymouth, the train then enters Cornwall. The route towards Penzance in west Cornwall is equally captivating as you catch glimpses of glistening Cornish coasts. This afternoon, a variety of unforgettable experiences await. Disembark at St Erth to explore the artistic haven of St Ives, with bespoke recommendations from the concierge. Alternatively, continue to Penzance for a guided tour of the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, culminating in a private Cornish wine-tasting overlooking St Michael's Mount.

This evening, rejoin the train for tonight's dinner on board which celebrates Britain's seasonal bounty, followed by an evening of curated entertainment.

Day 3 – Fowey & Lostwithiel

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the timeless allure of Cornwall with a range of thoughtfully curated excursions revealing the region's historic charm.

Explore the picturesque seaside town of Fowey, where the team can craft a bespoke adventure tailored to your desires. Choose from a coastal hike along the famed 'Hall Walk', a private boat tour along the shore or other excursions that invite you to discover its hidden gems.

As evening descends, reboard the train for a picturesque return journey to Somerset, arriving in the small town of Bruton. Here, an after-hours private tour of the esteemed Hauser & Wirth gallery awaits, complete with a champagne reception in the gallery's idyllic gardens. The day culminates with a private gala dinner at Da Costa, Hauser & Wirth's celebrated on-site Italian restaurant. As the evening draws to a close, the train spends the night on the nostalgic East Somerset Railway.

Day 4 – Homeward bound

The beauty, charm, culture and heritage of the southwest has been revealed in exquisite style aboard the Belmond Britannic Explorer. World-class cuisine has been enjoyed on and off the train, while excursions have allowed you to uncover Cornwall with your interests at the forefront.

Waking this morning, savour a farewell breakfast as the train departs the East Somerset Railway bound for London Victoria. Arriving in London later this morning, your luxury journey on the Britannic Explorer concludes and you can make your way home or explore the capital at your own pace.
