"We were extremely lucky on our trip and were able to experience dining in all three restaurants," they explained. "All were uniquely decorated, but our favourite was the Côte d'Azur dining car, with its Lalique panelling. Very Art Deco!"

As evening fell, the glamour of the experience continued throughout the train, with the sound of live piano music drifting through the beautifully restored carriages, embracing the timeless elegance that has long defined this train.

"I had read somewhere that you can never be overdressed on the Orient Express - and it's true," they added. "Posh frocks and black ties all round."

"When we got off the train to stretch our legs at various points in the journey, our steward Gabriel always donned his jacket and hat and laid a red carpet out at the bottom of the train ladder."

"Nothing was too much trouble for them," they added. "Even when we disembarked, there was music playing on the platform and the staff were lined up to bid us farewell."
