What to expect from an escorted group holiday

14 June 2023

Holidays give us precious moments to unwind, rejuvenate, and explore new horizons. We understand how important they are and how they might only come around once a year, So, they should be truly unforgettable for all the right reasons.

As our holidays are so cherished, it can be daunting to choose a different style from what you're used to. If you're contemplating an escorted group holiday for your next getaway, here's a guide to what to expect.

What's the experience like when travelling with a group?

Going on holiday with a group offers a marvellous opportunity to delve into new experiences alongside like-minded travellers. You don't need to worry about feeling herded because our dedicated Tour Managers always make sure you're precisely where you need to be, when you need to be there.

Group travel is also a great option if you'd like a solo holiday. It gives you the freedom to explore independently but with a sense of security and reassurance from being with other people. At the end of each unforgettable day, you can unwind with newfound friends over local cuisine and share the stories that have enriched your experience -that's the beauty of travelling with a group.

What role does the Tour Manager play?

Your Tour Manager is your go-to guide on your holiday. They will warmly greet you at the designated departure point for your tour. This is usually at our departure office in London St Pancras for our European Holidays, and River Cruises, or at the airport for our Worldwide Holidays and Fly and Cruise options. If you choose one of our UK and Ireland Holidays, they'll be there to welcome you at your starting hotel.

Throughout your entire holiday, your Tour Manager is your trusted companion, taking care of every detail. This means you can relax, knowing that someone else has expertly organised everything from train reservations to accommodations and transfers.

Will there be time for personal exploration?

Rest assured, every holiday is thoughtfully crafted to incorporate ample free time. This allows you to seek out that hidden gem of a restaurant, explore off the beaten path, or meander through charming side streets guided by your instincts.

Each carefully selected accommodation is perfectly placed to give you a wealth of discoveries right at your doorstep. If you'd like suggestions on how to make the most of your free day, our Tour Managers are always on hand to offer recommendations.

Do I need to handle my own luggage?

We provide options for luggage transfer, so you don't need to worry about carrying your bags on and off trains. Our dedicated team, based in the UK, is ready to assist you with any inquiries regarding luggage arrangements, just get in touch. However, if you'd rather not use a luggage service, you will need to handle your own suitcase when boarding and disembarking trains, as well as placing it on luggage racks within the trains. Additionally, you may need to carry your luggage over short distances between platforms, stations, or hotels. Please note that your Tour Manager cannot provide individual assistance with boarding trains or coaches, or carrying your luggage.

What's included in our packages?

Our holidays include all travel, hotel accommodation, excursions and the services of your Tour Manager. While meals are also included, the number of them may vary depending on the specific holiday you choose.

If you're looking for an experience with everything included, such as all meals and drinks, then our All Inclusive holidays are an excellent option. You can see the exact details for these holidays by visiting their individual pages like the Austrian Alps All-Inclusive and Jungfrau Express Five-Star All-Inclusive. Alternatively, you could request a brochure and explore our full range of holidays.
