Serving up a wealth of experiences that include Impressionist inspiration and masterpieces, traditional fishing villages keeping time-honoured traditions alive, bountiful seafood, unusual wildlife...the list just goes on and on! “Actual cruising was brilliant - excellent food, first class & personal service. Very relaxing pace, interesting towns & countryside plus the amazing inclined plane. Highly recommended. Journey from Paris to Strasbourg & return left a lot to be desired. One coach did not turn up, waited for almost an hour in the wrong place for another coach & had reserved tickets on a rail coach that did not run! Took almost 7 hours to get from Paris North to our boat, most of the time hanging around waiting.

“The Rhone cruise was excellent, the Amadeus Provence immaculate with great cabins and an amazing friendly and helpful crew. The off ship excursions were well organised and of just about the right duration. I would give 5 stars to this part of the tour The journey to the French Riviera by train and then back to Lyons was spoilt by the commuter train we took from Nice to Marseille which was very crowded, otherwise the trains were comfortable and we had allocated seating. The Aston Scala hotel in Nice was disappointing, room was average, food just adequate and it is the first hotel I have ever stayed in where we were refused a drink with our meal even when we went to the bar to request one! Not sure what was going on at the hotel but the manager needs to get his act together. Despite that we had a great holiday and will definitely travel with GRJ again.

“This was a lovely cruise, with fabulous food and wines. It was leisurely and travels on some lovely waterways. The cabins were comfortable and the lounge, dining room and outdoor deck were all delightful. The staff on the barge were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My main problem was that Croisi Europe did not allocate us to the cabins we had reserved with GRJ. I feel this is an issue with Croisi which needs to be addressed for future cruises. I understand that at least one other customer in addition to my cabin choice had specific reasons for choosing their cabin with GRJ. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Highlights of the French Waterways

The French waterways are sublime, from the Seine in the Northern region to the Rhône in the Southern region. A diverse construction of rivers connecting France and offers the views this country in a different light from the tiny, hidden villages to vineyards and scatterings of more than 300 Chateaux along the River Loire.
