What’s included

Itinerary

Day 1 - London and Dijon

We meet at our London St Pancras Departure Office ahead of our Eurostar journey to Paris. From here, we continue to Dijon by high-speed rail where we board our hotel barge, MS Daniele. A 3-course welcome dinner is served once we've settled into our cabins. Afterwards, why not make the most of the inclusive bar and enjoy a nightcap before bed?

Includes
  • Dinner
Day 2 - Discovering Dijon

We set out on a guided tour of Dijon, a city sat on a former spice route that rose to fame thanks to its popular gingerbread, mustard and wines. Exploring with a local guide, we delve into Dijon's history with visits to the Palace of the Dukes and the Church of Notre Dame. Back on board, we set sail for Longecourt-en-Plaine.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 – The Grand Crus Wine Circuit

Boarding a coach, we pick up the Grand Crus Wine Circuit, driving through villages that produce the finest Burgundy wines. The 'road of the great wines' runs from Dijon to Santenay, and is punctuated by a collection of quaint vineyards and attractive towns. Many of wine producers here make only a small quantity of very high-quality wine. Some of the best vintages require between 10 and 20 years to mature, further restricting the volume.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 - Sail along the Petite Saône to Gray

Relax on board as we slowly sail along the Petite Saône to Gray. Perhaps visit the boat's terrace area to soak in charming vistas of sloping vineyards and secluded villages or chat to new friends at the bar

Includes
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 - Gray and Savoyeux

Today, we enjoy a guided tour of Gray, which reveals a jumble of period buildings, as 18th-century townhouses sit comfortable beside medieval fortifications and Baroque-style chapels. The rest of our day is spent making the leisurely journey to Savoyeux, where we arrive in the early evening.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 – Port-sur-Saône

Our day begins with a guided excursion to Champlitte's medieval castle. Occupying an important defensive position between the Duchy and County of Burgundy, the fortress has been both a strategic stronghold and a family home. The impressive external structure contrasts with a rustic décor that's almost provincial in style. Back on the Daniele, a special gala dinner is served, helping us celebrate a memorable cruise.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 - London

Disembark after breakfast today for the return journey to Paris. In the French capital, we join Eurostar service back to London St Pancras.

Includes
  • Breakfast

This was a lovely cruise, with fabulous food and wines. It was leisurely and travels on some lovely waterways. The cabins were comfortable and the lounge, dining room and outdoor deck were all delightful. The staff on the barge were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My main problem was that Croisi Europe did not allocate us to the cabins we had reserved with GRJ. I feel this is an issue with Croisi which needs to be addressed for future cruises. I understand that at least one other customer in addition to my cabin choice had specific reasons for choosing their cabin with GRJ. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

The accommodation was excellent, the food was superb, the service could not have been better, and the company could not have been more compatible. One of the best holidays I have had for several years..

We really enjoyed the cruise. The barge was well appointed, clean and the cabins spacious enough and thoughtfully designed. The food was stunning and we enjoyed every meal. The crew were great and went out of their way to provide an excellent experience. Why the deducted star? Apart from the Grand Cru tour which was fascinating, and the Cathedral at Dole there was little time to explore independently and the salt buildings had commentary in French only.No time in Bescason at all.

With 22 passenger the outside seating area was a little crowded and we couldn’t all sit comfortably. The bathroom was a little cramped but that is to be expected on a barge. Lovely food and crew.
