Canada's Iconic Trains

Experience a rail journey of a lifetime across Canada

Ready for an epic adventure into spectacular landscapes? Canada's untamed wilderness, natural wonders, historic cities and cinematic beauty will take your breath away. Carving a path through the Rocky Mountains in the west, passing glaciers, canyons, pine forests and vast open prairies to Nova Scotia on the east coast, Canada was formed by its historic railways. Whichever region you wish to explore, Canada's railways offer comfort, excellent onboard service and ever-changing scenery.

From VIA Rail's classic passenger service the Corridor, connecting Canada's Southeastern cities, and the Ocean sleeper service which links 'the Maritimes' of the Atlantic coast, to Canada's legendary cross-country trains - The Canadian, which cuts a cinematic route between Vancouver and Toronto, and the iconic Rocky Mountaineer - the world's second largest country is renowned worldwide for its outstanding train journeys. Our Escorted Canadian Rail Holidays feature between one or four of Canada's stunning railways.

The Canadian

The original Streamliner coaches, built from stainless steel, have been fully restored to their original 1950's style, and today The Canadian can be found traversing the rugged landscape between the cities of Vancouver and Toronto.

The Ocean

The Ocean takes us from Quebec, across New Brunswick to Nova Scotia and our destination, Halifax - the provincial capital. Following the winding route of the old Intercolonial Railway, the first passenger train ran from Halifax to Lévis in 1836 and the train became known as the Ocean in 1904, making it the longest-running service in Canada.
