Itinerary
We meet at our Departure Office in London St Pancras, and travel by Eurostar passing through France and Belgium, and across the Dutch border to Rotterdam for the coach to Delft.
On Day 2, we visit the Royal Delft porcelain factory, where the distinctive 'Delft Blue' design is made. Here we can see the intricate designs being finished and painted. The blue and white pottery has been made here since the 17th century, and the famous colours were actually inspired by Chinese imported pottery and were used among European affluent families for years. During the Chinese civil war; however, importation stopped and the Dutch Delftware industry seized this as an opportunity to create their own designs. Today, the Royal Delft factory is the only remaining Delftware factory that remains. Following the tour your afternoon is free in Delft.
