Itinerary
Meeting our travelling companions and Tour Manager at London St Pancras, we board the Eurostar for a journey through the scenic French countryside to Paris. In the French capital, we walk to the neighbouring station and continue to Strasbourg for an overnight stay.
The compact but captivating historic centre of this Alsatian city is dotted with grand squares and charming narrow waterways. Blending German and French architecture, Strasbourg's picturesque Grande Île is dominated by the incredible Gothic cathedral. Dating from the 13th century and featuring a façade of ornately carved portals, the cathedral is topped by a piercing, octagonal tower.
After checking in to our hotel in the centre of Strasbourg, we head out to a local restaurant to enjoy our first dinner together and savour the cuisine of the Alsace.

I have already done one review, but am happy to do another! It was a superb trip. Above all Neil West the guide was excellent. He looked after us, gave us lots of information. And generally cared that we had a good holiday. The first hotel in Strasberg was good, the last hotel in Tasch was also good. The middle one in Curr was not so good. The bedding was poor. (the pillows). We were lucky with good weather at Zermatt and had plenty of time to explore and do the cable cars etc. The return journey was long and tiring, but it was better than having another night stop. Overall a fantastic trip. Thanks Neil and Great Rail. See you again soon.

This was our 3rd holiday with GRJ and was probably our best. The iconic railway journeys lived up to their hype, we preferred the Bernier Express over the Glacier Express due to the variety of the stunning scenery. Our highlights were Arosa and the Matterhorn.
