Itinerary
Meeting the Tour Manager and travelling group at London St Pancras this morning, your holiday begins as you board the Eurostar service to Paris.
In the French capital, we transfer to Gare d'Austerlitz for a journey through the centre of France to Brive-la-Gaillarde. From Brive, a coach transfer follows the Vézère river through this picturesque region. The Dordogne is known as the jewel of French gastronomy and, with truffles and walnut trees dotting this verdant land of thick forests we pass, it's little wonder.
Set in parkland and with a large outdoor pool, our hotel is in the centre of Les Eyzies, a village at the heart of a UNESCO-listed site of caves containing prehistoric rock paintings and significant palaeolithic discoveries. On arrival, we enjoy our first dinner together at a local restaurant, a three-course meal with wine.
Please note, the departure on 3 September 2025 will transfer to Paris Montparnasse and continue by rail to Libourne where we are driven by coach to Brive-la-Gaillarde, arriving this evening.

Excellent holiday & well organised. Good hotel in a great location. Really enjoyed the excursions. The tour rep worked extremely hard to ensure we were well informed and that the holiday ran like clockwork.

Lovely holiday. Enjoyed the rail travel, much more relaxing than flying. All the transfers went well. Les Eyzies was the perfect base and the Hotel des Roches was charming. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. The meals that were included were on the whole very good and the evenings in the restaurant allowed the group to get to know each other. We formed some lasting friendships and met some very interesting people. The itinerary was a good balance of organised visits and free time to explore. My only suggestion would be for something like a Whatsapp group to be established, so that information could be passed more easily around the group. All in all an excellent holiday. Would recommend.
