Itinerary
Your holiday begins as you arrive independently in the cathedral city of Salisbury, where you meet the Tour Manager at our Georgian hotel. The Mercure White Hart Salisbury is in the heart of the city, a short distance from Salisbury Cathedral.
After checking in to the hotel from mid-afternoon, there's time to get to know the city. The parkland surrounding the cathedral (known as Cathedral Close) houses attractions such as the 18th-century Mompesson House, which featured in the 1995 film adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. In the city's timeless streets, you'll find a marketplace, quirky shops and a large independent art gallery, Fisherton Mill.
This evening our group is welcomed with a glass of prosecco before our first three-course dinner in the hotel restaurant.

A wonderful and interesting itinerary based around Salisbury. Even a last-minute change of castle visits didn't matter as the substitute was an unusual but worthy replacement. The preferred transport provider - Pewsey Vale Coaches - provided a new 25-plate midibus for our small party group and having the same (excellent) driver for each trip simply made him one of the group. The hotel was excellent, the food and accommodation better than expected. If only there had been a sunset at Stonehenge!

Very enjoyable. Courier was friendly and very helpful. Hotel in Salisbury had a few weak points - lack of a toilet brush, ridiculously tiny washbasin about the size of two hands. Failed hairdryer was never replaced. Cooked lunch at Avebury was clearly a mistake, with much wasted food, considering we had a hot meal that evening. We have already completed the holiday questionnaire.

A well structured and varied holiday with ample time to visit each site without feeling rushed. Superbly managed by Malcolm supported by knowledgeable local guides, especially the Director of the Wiltshire Museum. Minor irritations on arrival at a couple of sites where staff were unprepared for our visit. Decent hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Varied choices for dinner. Lively Quiz Night on Wednesdays. A special shout-out to Lee, our brilliant coach driver and a fine raconteur!
