The Magic of the Moselle and Rhine

“Railway journey out not great courier unaware of my problem with escalators although I had informed Great Rail Ahead. Brussels Midi became a nightmare. Ship was great love the standard of the Amedaus Staff meals etc. There was conflict between information from ship and tour manager. the walking tours were too tiring for us both duration and amount of standing. No time for proper breaks during these tours. Guides consistently underestimated the time that they would take. Tour to Luxembourg on a Sunday was very problematic!!! Places were very interesting would have loved much more time in Trier with a good map by ourselves.

Moselle River Experiences
Trier

Trier

The whole of Trier is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and with so much to discover in its plazas and bustling streets, this comes as little surprise. Thought to be Germany's oldest city, Trier is rife with ancient Roman ruins, which occupy the same street corner as classic Baroque architecture and brightly coloured town-houses to leave us with a truly historic treasure trove of sights to see.

Wine

Wines of the Moselle

Such vintages can only be made from grapes grown alongside the Moselle River, with the most common variety, Reisling, a popular choice. Ranging from very sweet to dry, and with a distinctive yellow tinge, enjoy sampling this delicious local specialty at different destinations along the Moselle.

Cochem

Cochem

Situated in the Moselle Valley, Cochem is surrounded by vineyards, while the town itself, in particular its Old Quarter, boasts a number of historic attractions. Dominated by the Late-Gothic castle, the Reichsburg, this area's also home to a preserved mustard mill, the only surviving example of its kind on the whole continent, and a walkable section of the original medieval walls. For something slightly different, you'll find a fascinating arts centre housed in Cochem's former monastery.
