Flåm Railway

A branch line of the Bergen Railway, the scenic Flåm Railway takes passengers on a wonderful 12.5 mile (20km) journey up one of the steepest railway lines in the world. On its journey from Flåm, located at the innermost corner of the Aurlandsfjord, the train negotiates horseshoe curves, twists, turns and 20 tunnels - 18 of which were drilled by hand.

The scenery is truly spectacular, with rivers and waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and remote farms passing by the window as you travel towards Myrdal at 2,838 feet (865m).

“Very well organised trip - rep was one step ahead of any problems - one morning we woke to pouring rain and we were walking to the port to go on a cruise to Flam. By the time we finished breakfast our rep Charles had organised and paid for taxis to make sure we arrived dry and ready to enjoy the next stage of our tour - excellent service

“An enjoyable trip with a varied itinerary and spectacular scenery. We had the added bonus of an enthusiastic and friendly tour manager and a great group of fellow travellers. A lot of time was spent on trains and coaches, more of the latter than expected, but there were constant wonderful views - even when raining!
