Meet your group and Tour Manager at our Departure Office as we travel on the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris. Here we change trains and continue to Lausanne. We overnight here, then on Day 2 we take the train along the shores of glittering Lake Geneva, beneath the Swiss Alps and through the Simplon Tunnel into Italy, before reaching Venice. Here we transfer by private boat to the 4-Star Hotel Sant'Elena for a four-night stay.
Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of Venice, seeing the iconic floating city's most famous sights such as St Mark's Basilica and the staggering Doge's Palace. Following the tour, we visit Ca'Macana, one of the oldest and finest mask-making workshops in Venice. Each mask is unique, as no design is ever repeated. Here we enjoy a talk on the Venice Carnival and how the authentic handmade masks are created, using the same techniques that have been handed down for 800 years.
Today we explore the attractive islands which make up the Venetian lagoon on a relaxing private boat cruise. We stop at Burano, Torcello and Murano where we enjoy some time to explore the unique atmospheres and characters of these beautiful islands.
You enjoy a morning at leisure today to enjoy the magnifi cent Venice Carnival in all of its resplendent glory. Take some time to enjoy the incredible range of costumes on display as the people of Venice don their masks and put on their finery to celebrate this superb city and its legacy. You may wish to take a gondola tour or alternatively simply stroll through the sea of masks and elaborate dresses. This afternoon, we visit the Doge's Palace where we embark on a secret itinerary guided tour which takes us to all the hidden areas and nooks of the palace, places which are ordinarily locked off from the general public.
We bid a fond farewell to Venice today, travelling by rail to Turin for a two night stay at the 4-Star Hotel Concord. On Day 7, we enjoy a guided tour of this elegant city which dates back to Roman times and boasts a wealth of attractions, restaurants and bars.
We leave Italy today, taking the high-speed train to Paris where we connect with the Eurostar service back to the UK where our tour concludes.
