South Tynedale Railroad

We journey on the heritage South Tynedale Railroad, England's highest narrow gauge railroads. On this train, travel three and a half miles from Alston to Lintley Halt and Kirkhaugh, winding through the breathtaking North Pennines Area of Natural Beauty, pulled by either steam or diesel locomotives. The line originally ran as a passenger railroad, closing in 1976 in the final days of commercial steam railroad in England. The line was re-opened in 1983 as a tourist railroad, and continues to run successfully today.
