Snaefell Mountain Railroad

The Snaefell Mountain Railroad is a 5 mile (8km) long electric railroad which connects the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell, the Isle of Man's highest point. During the 30 minute journey, passengers travel up gradients of 1 in 12 in delightful wooden-bodied railcars dating back to 1895. On the way up, passengers can enjoy fantastic views over Laxey Glens and on a clear day, it may be possible to see Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. A café at the summit offers you the opportunity to enjoy lunch and the stunning views at the same time!

Vintage Railroads of the Isle of Man
Mrs M James
“Enjoyed the whole vacation especially the steam train and the trip to the top of the hill although the electric railroad was a bit noisy and uncomfortable .The hotel was good with very good food. The coach driver was one of the best ever, a mine of information and an expert in motor bike racing. I wish I could have seen a Manx cat but I didn’t have enough time.
