Day 1 - Meet the group in Torquay

We arrive in Torquay to be greeted by our Tour Manager at the 4-Star Imperial Hotel.

Day 2 - The Riviera by steam train and boat

Today we explore the English Riviera's splendid coastline, beginning with a boat cruise down the river between Totnes and Dartmouth. After some free time to explore the elegant riverside town of Dartmouth, we cross the Dart Estuary by ferry to Kingswear. Here we board the Dartmouth Steam Railroad, which takes us along the scenic Devon coastline and the tranquil River Dart to Paignton. We enjoy the views of the beautiful sand-fringed shoreline beaches, passing colorful beach huts and the blue expanse of the English Channel, discovering the wonderful ribbon of the River Dart, lined with verdant forests and idyllic woodlands.

Day 3 - At leisure

Today we have a free day to explore Torquay at leisure. Why not take a stroll along the town's charming seafront, following the 'Agatha Christie Mile'? You could also visit the striking Torre Abbey, or board the quaint Babbacombe Cliff Railroad, for a journey spent admiring the coastal views.

Day 4 - The Dawlish Coast

This morning we take a scenic rail trip along the coast to Dawlish. After some free time, we transfer to Buckfastleigh where we join the South Devon Railroad for a steam-hauled journey along the valley of the River Dart. Built in 1872, this heritage line runs from Buckfastleigh to Totnes. Sit back and relax as we enjoy a picturesque return trip. Tonight, we gather to enjoy a farewell meal to mark the end of our vacation.

Day 5 - Homeward bound

After breakfast, we say our farewells and you are free to depart Torquay at your leisure.

Recommended Airport

We recommend that for this tour you arrange flights to and from Bristol Airport, which is approximately 86 miles from your base in Torquay.

Departure times

You may check in at the first hotel on your itinerary anytime after 14:00; your Tour Manager will be available between 16:00 and 18:00. However, if you are arriving later, you can meet your Tour Manager before dinner from 19:00.

The hotel was due to close at the end of the month and had acquired a run down appearance.
