Western Canada is filled with contrasts, with cultural cities surrounded by unending nature, and it is yours to behold as your vacation begins today in Vancouver. As you arrive, make your way to your conveniently located hotel to check in for the first of two nights.
Take the rest of the day to get to know this coastal city, either on your own or by adding an optional 48-hour Hop-on/Hop-off bus pass. This pass allows you to uncover Vancouver at your own pace as you make a loop of the city, stopping at more than 30 of the best attractions, including Gastown, Granville Island, Stanley Park, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, English Bay, and the shops and restaurants along Robson Street. If one of the stops piques your interest, feel free to "hop off" to better explore its features before continuing your tour on another bus.
Vancouver's oceanside location makes fresh seafood a menu staple at the city's eateries. You might like to sample it for yourself at one of the city's trendy restaurants. Overnight Vancouver.

Nice comfortable train, day one VC to Kamloops, dull, not scenic w dryness and old fire lines neatly up to tracks, hotel in Kamloops very average, not sure how the $9,500 price tag got used. Good on train very good, service good, Fairmont hotels were very nice, but Kamloops: Prestige very disappointing.

Beautiful scenery, sure, a very quiet and comfortable ride, great, first class food and hotels, absolutely! But the 5th star is for the staff of Rocky Mountaineer! The initial leg of our train trip to Kamloops was cancelled due to smoke from area fires. But the RM staff somehow quickly put together a convoy of motor coaches, seemingly overnight, to transport us to Kamloops, complete with snacks and drinks, along with more than adequate staff to flawlessly coordinate travel and baggage. They are to be congratulated for their quick response to this unexpected incident, thus “making lemonade from lemons”. The train was ready the next day and the rest of the trip was outstanding! I cannot think of one negative experience! Excellent work, RM!

This vacation was a dream come true! The comfort, thoughtfulness, efficiency and professionalism of the staff was amazing! The quality of service, meals, snacks, and drinks was incredible and very filling! Traveling by train was very relaxing and the scenery and animals that we passed along the way were enjoyed by all. Each of the Fairmont hotels in Vancouver, Lake Louise and Banff were beautiful, clean and stunning. We enjoyed the gondola and view atop Mount Sulphur in Banff; and the tranquility of Lake Minnewanka was a pleasant way to end the day. Thank you for a relaxing, invigorating and memorable vacation.
