Frequently Asked Questions
Travel protection can help protect you and the money you've spent on a vacation when unexpected events affect your plans. Depending on the plan you choose, benefits may include trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical care and transportation, travel delays and baggage protection. Coverage, limits and exclusions vary by plan.
It's best to purchase travel protection soon after making your first trip payment or deposit. Buying early may also be important if you want coverage for certain pre-existing medical conditions, as some plans require you to purchase coverage within a specified period. Check your plan for the exact requirements.
A covered reason is a specific unexpected event or circumstance listed in your plan that may make you eligible for a benefit. For example, certain serious illnesses or injuries, the death of a family member or travel companion, or other qualifying events may be covered.
Some Allianz Travel Protection plans include emergency medical and dental benefits, as well as emergency medical transportation. These benefits can help with eligible expenses resulting from a sudden, unexpected, covered illness or injury while traveling, subject to your plan's limits, terms and exclusions.
If you need to cancel because of a covered reason, trip cancellation benefits may reimburse eligible prepaid, non-refundable trip expenses, up to the limits of your plan. If you need to cancel your vacation, contact Great Rail Journeys as soon as possible, then file a claim with Allianz and provide documentation supporting the cancellation.
You can file a claim online through Allianz Travel Insurance or through the Allyz® app. You'll typically need details of your trip, receipts and documentation showing what happened and why you are making a claim. Filing online is recommended for the fastest processing.
Your Declaration of Coverage and Certificate of Insurance/Policy contain the details of your plan, including benefits, limits, covered reasons and exclusions. You can also access your policy information through the Allyz® app or Allianz's online policy management tools.
