Your Canadian Rockies vacation begins as you arrive in Vancouver and make your way independently to our centrally located hotel to check in.
If you are arriving early, the day is free to explore Vancouver at leisure. Regarded as one of the most desirable cities to live in, this bustling port city boasts a thriving art scene, laidback atmosphere and stunning natural scenery. Check out a local art gallery or get some lunch at a restaurant or café - Vancouver is known for its fresh seafood and variety of excellent Asian cuisine.
This evening, we gather at the hotel to meet the Tour Manager and enjoy a welcome dinner together. Overnight Vancouver.

We recently finished our Rocky Mountaineer trip from Vancouver to Calgary and we were very pleased with our accommodations, the food on board the train and the employees we interacted with. We would recommend this trip to anyone who is physically able to walk a mile or two, climb steep bus steps and wants to see the best of the Rocky mountains!

An Unforgettable Canadian Rockies Experience Our Canadian Rockies and Rocky Mountaineer tour gave us memories we will cherish for years to come. From the moment we set out, every view seemed more beautiful than the last: towering mountains brushed with snow, turquoise lakes shimmering in the sunlight, and vast open landscapes stretching toward the horizon. The crisp mountain air, the scent of pine, and the sudden glimpses of wildlife made each stop feel like a scene from a storybook. We often found ourselves falling silent, simply taking in the scale and beauty around us. Along the way, we also gained a deeper appreciation for Canada’s history, its people, and the communities that have grown throughout the region. Traveling aboard the Rocky Mountaineer was one of the highlights of the journey. From the comfort of our seats, we watched rivers wind through deep valleys, waterfalls tumble down rocky cliffs, and forests of evergreens sweep past the windows. The changing light on the mountains made the scenery feel constantly new. We could relax and enjoy the ride while the warm, engaging staff shared fascinating stories and insights about the places we passed. Their thoughtful service made us feel genuinely cared for. The meals were outstanding, with beautifully presented dishes, fresh flavors, and warm drinks that were especially comforting as we watched the rugged landscape roll by. Sharing those meals while surrounded by such extraordinary scenery made the train ride feel both luxurious and wonderfully personal. A very special thank-you to Harrison, Vivek, and Heera, who provided outstanding food, impeccable service, and fascinating knowledge throughout our Rocky Mountaineer journey. Their warmth, professionalism, and entertaining personalities made us feel as though we were being treated like royalty. Our hotels added another memorable dimension to the trip. After days of exploring, it was a pleasure to return to welcoming rooms, comfortable beds, and quiet evenings surrounded by the mountain atmosphere. We appreciated the thoughtful hospitality, the peaceful settings, and the chance to relax while reflecting on the day’s adventures. Waking up to cool morning air and views of the mountains made each new day feel like another gift. Our tour manager, Jacob “Jake” Johnson, was simply the best guide we could have asked for. He was dedicated to making every part of our journey meaningful and enjoyable. Jake generously shared facts, history, and interesting stories throughout the tour while keeping everything exceptionally organized. He was conscientious, dependable, attentive, and always focused on giving our group the best possible experience. Our wonderful bus driver, Nathan, did so much more than drive us from place to place. He shared his knowledge of the areas we traveled through, adding even more depth to our experience. He was constantly mindful of his passengers, pedestrians, traffic, and the bus itself. Despite our stepping aboard after walking through wet and muddy areas, the bus was always sparkling clean. Nathan gave us the smoothest and safest bus ride imaginable—and always with a smile and a great sense of humor. I am especially grateful to the Rocky Mountaineer team for their kindness after I accidentally left my headphones at our hotel in Kamloops. By the time our group reached Jasper, I realized they were missing and contacted the company. The staff took the time to locate them and arranged to have them delivered to my hotel in Banff. When they arrived, I was touched not only to have them back but also by the care and effort that had gone into returning them. It was a small item, but their willingness to help made a lasting impression and added a personal touch to an already special trip. Every member of the staff worked beautifully together. It was obvious that they genuinely love their jobs and are dedicated to giving their guests an unforgettable experience. They were knowledgeable, conscientious, organized, caring, and so much fun to be around. From beginning to end, this was a remarkable journey filled with breathtaking scenery, meaningful stories, delicious meals, comfortable hotels, wonderful people, and thoughtful hospitality. I will always remember the sound of the train moving through the mountains, the taste of those memorable meals, the cool mountain air, and the feeling of looking out at landscapes unlike any I had seen before. I am deeply thankful for the care we received and will always treasure our time in the Canadian Rockies.

The staff on the train was terrific. My main contacts were with Danni, who had such a bubbly personality and Jacque was fun. All staff we encountered were, without exception, smiling, helpful and willing to go above and beyond. The quality of the food prepared in a relatively tiny kitchen was outstanding. The staff pointed out wildlife as we passed by. Most common were bald eagles and osprey. Surprisingly, it was possible to get good photos even on the moving train. I can’t say enough about the amazing scenery. It was a trip well worth the price of gold leaf service. We felt we got value for our money.

The Rocky Mountaineer train journey was a fabulous experience. The train car attendants were extremely friendly, outgoing, and promptly attended to every need. The motorcoach portion took us to most of the iconic destinations in the Canadian Rockies and allowed time to explore. The only disappointment was not being able to visit the iconic Lake Moraine. I would have preferred that over the glacier stop.
