The Salamander Train

Also known as the Schneeberg Railway, the famous Salamander train is a rack railway found in Lower Austria, so-called because of its unique coat of paint of black with yellow spots. Operated with diesel engines, these trains run through the low foothills and green meadows as they wind up from Puchberg am Schneeberg up to the heady heights of the Hochschneeberg mountain's summit.
