Snaefell Mountain Railway

The Snaefell Mountain Railway is a 5 mile (8km) long electric railway which connects the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell, the Isle of Man's highest point. During the 30 minute journey, passengers travel up gradients of 1 in 12 in delightful wooden-bodied railcars dating back to 1895. On the way up, passengers can enjoy fantastic views over Laxey Glens and on a clear day, it may be possible to see Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. A café at the summit offers you the opportunity to enjoy lunch and the stunning views at the same time!

“Very good trip which managed to cover most of the island's highlights. There was a ferry change that was not well intimated befoire the holiday began. This resulted in a stressful scrabble to get train times changed. The company paid for any expenses that resulted in this change without demur - someting I appreciated. The hotel we stayed in had excellent staff but there was not enough of them which resulted in overly long waits for service. The tour manager was pleasant, friendly, polite and acted upon any issue that arose. Could have been five stars but for the initial handling of the ferry change.
