Itinerary

Day 1 - London to Lucerne

Begin your holiday at London St Pancras, boarding the Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord. Continue to Paris Gare de Lyon for your connection to Basel, before boarding your final train of the day to Lucerne.

Set on the idyllic shores of Lake Lucerne and surrounded by snowy mountain peaks, Lucerne is one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities. Once you've arrived and checked into your hotel, you have the rest of the evening free - either spend some time exploring charming olde-worlde streets or take the opportunity to relax after a day of travelling.

Day 2 - Lucerne to Interlaken

Set off from your hotel for a scenic ride on the Lucerne to Interlaken Express. Sit back and enjoy the scenery of the stunning Bernese Oberland unveiling before you, with seats in the train's specially-designed panoramic carriage to make the most of the views.

Situated between the crystal waters of two mountain lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken is the perfect place to unwind for an afternoon. You could take a relaxing lake cruise, explore the colourful floral displays in Höhematte Park or enjoy a glass of local wine - one of Switzerland's best-kept secrets - in one of the town's many bars and bistros.

Day 3 - The GoldenPass Line

Continue your rail tour in the morning, checking out of your hotel for a journey on the stunning GoldenPass Line to Montreux. Taking in the stunning lakes and snowy peaks whilst skimming the shores of Lake Geneva, the GoldenPass Line is an excellent introduction to the romantic and wild Pays d'Enhaut.

Alight at Montreux, where you spend the night. With a stylish and chic reputation, there's a lively cultural scene in Montreux. with. If you have the energy after your day's travelling, why not explore the well-heeled bar and dining options, or pay a visit to the famous Freddy Mercury statue?

Day 4 - Montreux to Zermatt

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your rail transfer from Montreux to Zermatt, enjoying the scenery as you go. Zermatt is a well-heeled resort town at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn. Spend some time exploring the charming architecture and pleasant boutiques, or visit the Matterhorn Museum to find out more about the area's history of mountaineering.

A trip aboard the iconic, narrow-gauge Gornergrat railway also recommended. This remarkable feat of engineering provides stunning panoramic views over the Matterhorn, the Gorner Glacier and the Monte Rosa massif. At the top, there's a network of walking trails, an astronomical observatory and a range of well-heeled dining options.

Day 5 - The Glacier Express

Transfer to the rail station for a trip aboard the Glacier Express - a real highlight of any Swiss rail tour.

The Glacier Express is considered by many as one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world. When you step onboard, you'll be treated to a day's worth of unparalleled Alpine views, crossing dense pine forests, snowy peaks and colourful meadows on your way to Zermatt.

The route crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, and climbs over the dramatic, 2,033m high Oberalp Pass for stunning views over the surrounding mountains. Alight at Churr, where you spend the night.

Day 6 - Chur to London

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by rail to Zurich airport for your flight back to London.
