Yorkshire Escorted Train Journeys and Tours

Discover England's largest county with one of Great Rail Journeys' Yorkshire holidays. From the fabulous coastline to historic towns and cities, our Yorkshire holidays include superb hotel accommodation and fascinating excursions. On our exciting programme of Yorkshire holidays you can experience the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, visit the ancient city of York, explore the Yorkshire Dales on the Wensleydale Railway, travel to Bronte country on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and relax in the attractive town of Harrogate.

At the heart of Yorkshire is the ancient city of York, a city with a long history that includes Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. On our Yorkshire holidays we visit the city, enjoying a guided walking tour. You can visit the superb National Railway Museum, walk the city walls and visit the fascinating Jorvik Viking Centre. All of our Yorkshire holidays include at least one journey on a local heritage railway. For example, on many of our Yorkshire holidays you can travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering to the beautiful seaside resort of Whitby, a journey made in beautifully restored historic carriages. Each of our Yorkshire holidays includes hotel accommodation with dinner, bed and breakfast, and the services of a professional Tour Manager.

“The tour was good with excellent local guides, the tour manager Peter Scott had to deal with a number of setbacks very successfully including the Sunday train strike in Scotland and arranging for alternative transport. The only drawback was only staying in hotels for one night and moving on to the next phase, this proved to be quite tiring.

“Good value, very comfortable hotel with helpful staff. The trips were varied & much enjoyed. One member of the group was repeating the same trip having done it the year before. Our leader was very attentive and we formed into a friendly cohesive group.
