Visited Cities on an Austria River Cruise
Vienna, Austria's capital, is one on the most notable
destinations on an Austrian river boat cruise. The city's Gothic
and baroque buildings ooze extravagance and its reputation as a
cultural capital is well-deserved as it plays host to fabulous
works of art, music and literature. For those who like to dine out
and spend time shopping you won't be disappointed with the
exquisite boutiques and fine restaurants that line the streets.
A little less ostentatious than Vienna is Nuremberg which boasts
a wonderful fusion of traditional and contemporary living. Its
flourishing parks and red sandstone buildings colour the city in
vivid colours, and its fascinating history flows through the
ancient streets of the Old Town which are still surrounded by
medieval walls.
A well as the more popular larger cities, you can visit ancient
towns that are steeped in a rich history when you embark on an
Austria river cruise. The wine growing region of Melk boasts row
upon row of clusters of succulent grapes that pepper the
countryside. A visit to the striking Benedictine Abbey which is
baroque in style is a must as its extraordinary Marble Hall is home
to one of the world's most ornate ceiling frescos. Alternatively,
you may prefer to amble around the medieval city centre of
Regensberg which is justifiably a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
