Bardolino

Set on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, the charming town of Bardolino is a popular wine-producing town, as well as one of the lake's most charming tourist destinations. Having been settled by the Romans, Bardolino then passed into the Republic of Venice from about the 12th century, before finally becoming part of a united Italy in the 1860s.

More about Bardolino

Thanks to its long history, today the town has retained an historic centre, with narrow cobbled streets leading to the waterfront, each lined with pretty pastel-coloured houses. Around the busy harbour, there is also an array of medieval stonework, such as the famous San Giovanni Gate and the beautiful 9th century Church of San Zeno.

With so much to recommend it, Bardolino has remained a very popular place to visit whilst around Lake Garda.
