On-Tour Travel App

Our On-Tour App is free to download and will come in handy whilst you are away, helping you manage all your travel details in one place, with plenty more handy features besides:

  • Access to a personalised day by day itinerary
  • All rail travel and flights
  • Accommodation details 
  • Day by day excursion details 
  • A chat service to connect you to the rest of your group and get updates from your Tour Manager whilst your away 
  • Useful travel tools, including weather forecasts for the key destinations on your tour and a currency convertor 
  • Maps of the main destinations on your itinerary

Great Rail Journeys On-Tour App FAQs

How do I download the On-Tour App?

Download the app to your Android device

  1. Open the Google Play app on your phone
  2. Search for the Great Rail Journeys On-Tour App
  3. Select the app and tap Install

Download the app to your Apple device

  1. From your Home screen, select the App Store
  2. To browse the App Store, tap Apps (at the bottom)
  3. Scroll to find the desired category (Travel)
  4. Search for the Great Rail Journeys On-Tour App
  5. Tap GET and then tap INSTALL
  6. If prompted, sign into the App Store to complete the install

How do I access my booking in the On-Tour App?

Each passenger on the booking can access the app individually. Once you have downloaded the app from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app and enter your email address. This can be any email address. It doesn't have to be an email address provided to us as part of the booking. It's only used to send you an email with a verification link on it.
  2. Accept our 'Terms of use' and 'Privacy policy' for use of the app
  3. Once you have completed step 1 and 2, and submitted it, an email will be sent to you. It's a good idea to check your junk mail in case it ends up there.
  4. Open the email and click the link to verify your email address, you will then return to the app login screen
  5. Enter your booking reference. This is the last 7 digits of your booking confirmation for example for LTC2125/1297659 enter 1297659.
  6. Enter your first and last name as you provided to us for the booking

If you're the lead passenger on the booking, you can share this information with other people on the booking. They will need to use their own name and email address when logging into the app.

I’ve got the correct booking reference and login details, but I still can’t log in

This may mean that the first and last name we have on our booking system is not recognised. Please call us on 01904 521930 and we will be happy to help.

Is the app available on Amazon Kindle?

The app is not yet available for Amazon Kindle. It is available on iOS and Android devices using the official Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

I’m on an iOS or Android device but I still can’t use the On-Tour App

To use the app, your device needs to be up to date.

  • For Apple devices you will need to use iOS 11 or above: To find the software version installed on your device, go to Settings > General, then tap About
  • For Android devices you will need to use Android 6 or above: For Sony, Samsung and Motorola devices you can find this in Settings > About phone > Build Number. If you have a Samsung device you can also check the version of software you have by dialing *#1234#

The On-Tour App itinerary day by day description does not match what I booked

We are aware that in some instances the tour day descriptions in the itinerary in the app might not exactly reflect your final personalised itinerary. Your final travel itinerary is available for your to view in the document section of the app. This will also be emailed to you approximately 14 days before you travel.

There are no documents in the document section

The On-Tour App will contain the following documents:

  • Booking confirmation
  • Travel Itinerary

These will only be available to the lead booker.

Some of my travel details are missing?

The On-Tour App will display the following information about your holiday:

  • Hotel accommodation
  • Cruise ship and cabin detail
  • Rail journeys
  • Flights
  • Optional excursions for cruise tours

The chat service is not available?

The On-Tour chat service is available when you're on your holiday. If you are on holiday and cannot access the chat service please email us (OnTourApp@GreatRail.com) and we will be happy to help.

How do I stop notifications from the On-Tour App appearing on my phone?

There's no setting for this in the app itself, but you can control this on your phone or tablet.

  • For Apple devices, you can disable notifications, or turn them off for individual apps. To access notifications settings, go to Settings > Notifications menu. From that list, you can configure each app's notifications or disable them entirely.
  • For Android devices, you can disable push notifications by going to Settings > Notifications. Android allows you to turn off notifications for individual apps or use a 'Do not Disturb' mode.

I can’t see all places on the map section

The map is designed to show key parts of your holiday. These include:

  • Hotels
  • Railway stations
  • Airports
  • River Cruise ports

Can I print or share documents from the app?

Unfortunately, the On-Tour App doesn't support printing or sharing documents stored in the app. We are working on this.

I have more than one booking, do I have to login again?

If you have more than one booking with us, your other bookings/trips will be available by going to 'Itinerary' > 'All trips' and selecting the booking/trip you want to view. The app will display the booking/trip that has a tick next the active trip.
