Flåm Railroad

A branch line of the Bergen Railroad, the scenic Flåm Railroad takes passengers on a wonderful 12.5 mile (20km) journey up one of the steepest railroad lines in the world. On its journey from Flåm, located at the innermost corner of the Aurlandsfjord, the train negotiates horseshoe curves, twists, turns and 20 tunnels - 18 of which were drilled by hand.

The scenery is truly spectacular, with rivers and waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and remote farms passing by the window as you travel towards Myrdal at 2,838 feet (865m).

Mr D Higgins
“This was an absolutely brilliant tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed, in spite of some early morning starts and late evening finishes! The Tour Manager was just great and a real fund of knowledge at every stage of the tour. She was well informed and was able to keep us very well advised along the way, as well as keeping the whole trip on schedule.

“Leisurely pace of all tours was good for older people didn’t feel rushed. Guides and Tour manager were excellent. We had a problem with smell in one of the hotels and tour manager sorted us another better room. The fiord cruise was a bit of a let down we were squeezed onto a small car ferry with lots of others and the weather not being good there was not enough shelter for everybody. Other than that it was a good vacation. (Switzerland was better as we like old trains)
