Travelling on VIA Rail's Canadian and Ocean sleeper trains, and on the all-daylight Rocky Mountaineer, you'll journey through the Canadian Rockies, stopping off at alpine resort towns and cosmopolitan cities. Your wondrous adventure begins today when you take your flight from London to Vancouver.

Day 1 – UK to Vancouver

Vancouver

On arrival in Vancouver, you'll be transferred to your hotel. Choose from our centrally located hotels. The rest of the day is yours to explore as you like. Head out and discover a little of Vancouver by checking out the shopping streets and the restaurants, where you can uncover some local flavours. Walk the ocean pathways and visit Stanley Park, or head to the aquarium.

Day 2 – Rocky Mountaineer

Following your breakfast in the hotel this morning, you'll make your way to the station where you'll board the Rocky Mountaineer train to Kamloops. Your journey aboard this daylight only train takes you past the green fields of the Fraser River Valley, and the Coast and Cascade Mountains. You'll see forests and river canyons, and dusty dessert-like areas of land. Watch in awe as you pass Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon, and the Thomson River, before you travel along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. On arrival in Kamloops, you'll be transferred to your hotel for the night.

Your hotel will be selected from a range of hotels by the Rocky Mountaineer, depending on your choice of Silverleaf Service or Goldleaf Service.

Day 3 – Rocky Mountaineer to Banff

You'll continue your train journey today as you travel east to the Canadian Rockies. As you journey on towards the province of Alberta, you'll pass ranch lands and lakes, and you'll travel over high mountain passes and through stunning mountain tunnels. You'll pass by Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Enjoy a relaxed lunch at your seat, while you travel over Roger's Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, and the Spiral Tunnels. You'll then arrive at the alpine resort town of Banff, where you'll transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 4 – Banff sightseeing

This morning you'll enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff. You'll visit Bow Falls and you'll take a ride on the Banff Gondola. You'll then go on to Lake Minnewaska, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoos. If you don't fancy the sightseeing tour, you can choose a half day Discover Banff & its Wildlife tour, with the Gondola ride, or a helicopter ride over the Continental Divide.

Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure and explore the town in your own time. You can add admission to Banff Hot Springs, where you can take a dip in the natural waters while admiring the mountain view. Or, choose an evening wildlife safari in Banff National Park.

Lake Louise

Day 5 – Lake Louise

Your journey continues today, when you travel on to Lake Louise and the Yoho National Park. Your journey today includes some sightseeing along the way. You'll stop to walk along Johnston Canyon, by Moraine Lake, and you'll make a stop at the Spiral Tunnels viewpoint. You'll then visit Emerald Lake and Takkakaw Falls, the highest waterfall in Canada. On arrival at Lake Louise you transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 6 – The Icefields Parkway

The Icefields Parkway

This morning embark on a sightseeing tour of Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, travelling along the Icefields Parkway. On the tour you'll see Bow Lake, Athabasca Falls, and the Columbia Icefield, which is one of the most accessible icefields in America. With this in mind, you'll ride an ice Explorer onto the Athabasca Glacier, where you'll learn more about this, one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle. Following the tour, you'll arrive in Jasper this evening, where you'll transfer to your hotel.

Joining Via Rail’s “The Canadian”

Following your leisurely breakfast this morning, you'll transfer to Jasper train station to board VIA Rail's Canadian train. Get to know your new surroundings onboard and get comfortable in your private cabin. With your Sleeper Plus package you'll have access to the Skyline and Park Cars where you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the scenery as you travel across the Great Central Plains of Canada. Relax and settle in for your first night aboard.

Take your time over your breakfast this morning, on your first morning aboard the train. Relax in your private cabin and spend some time in the Skyline car where the observation dome gifts you 360 degree views. Lunch is served in the dining car, after which you can visit the Park Car and watch the incredible scenery roll past your window. Enjoy a three-course dinner in the dining car, accompanied by fine wines.

Exploring Via Rail’s “The Canadian”

As you travel on through Winnipeg today, enjoy breakfast in the dining car and watch the scenery drift by, then curl up with a good book or head to the Skyline Car to see the incredible changes in the landscape as you make your way to Ontario. Lunch is served in the dining car, after which you can watch as the land becomes more rugged and your views alter from moment to moment. Dinner is served in the dining car, and after dinner you can chat with your fellow passengers or get comfortable in your private cabin.

Toronto

Day 10 - Toronto

Toronto

Enjoy breakfast and lunch onboard today, before you arrive in Toronto this afternoon. On arrival in Toronto, you'll make your own way to your central hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in your hotel, or head out and explore Toronto. Check out the city's markets, including Kensington Market and St. Lawrence Market, and try some of the diverse street food on offer. Or, visit Royal Ontario Museum, and simply take a walk around town, soaking up the atmosphere.

Niagara Falls

Day 11 – Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls

This morning you'll set off by coach for a full day tour to Niagara Falls. Your incredible tour includes a trip on The Hornblower to Horseshow Falls, and you'll travel along the River Road on the Niagara Gorge. You'll make a stop at the quaint town of Niagara-on-the-lake, before it's time to head back to Toronto.

Alternatively, you can spend your day differently and choose to stay in Toronto. Take a helicopter tour and see Toronto from the sky, or choose a private sightseeing tour of Toronto and get to know the city inside out.

Day 12 - Exploring Toronto

Exploring Toronto

Today you have a free day to explore Toronto as you like. With your complimentary hop-on-hop-off pass you can travel around the city, listening to the knowledgeable guides offer information about the attractions and sights. You can stop at the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, and Toronto's beautiful harbourfront.

Or, choose to take a cycling tour of the city, or simply explore on foot and take a stroll around the city. You can even choose to add a private sightseeing tour to give due attention to everything there is to see.

Day 13 – Via Rail to Montreal

Following breakfast at your hotel this morning you'll transfer to Toronto train station to board VIA Rail's train, travelling in Business Class to Montreal. Enjoy lunch onboard the train and watch the changing landscapes drift by your window, before arriving in Montreal later in the day.

Today you will embark on a half day guided city tour. Your guided tour takes you around Old Montreal, to the Notre Dame Basilica, Olympic Park, Mount Royal, and McGill University.

Alternatively, choose to explore Montreal on your own and discover the city at your own pace, making use of your included hop-on-hop-off pass to see the sights as you like. Or, choose to take a private sightseeing tour of Montreal.

Day 15 - Discovering Via Rail’s “The Ocean” train

Discovering Via Rail’s “The Ocean” train

Head out to do any last minute shopping in Montreal this morning, or just to wander around and see anything you haven't ticked off your list yet. Enjoy a relaxed lunch in one of the city's many quality restaurants, before it's time to head back to the train station this afternoon to board VIA Rail's Ocean train. Get comfortable in your private cabin and enjoy dinner onboard, then relax and cosy up in your cabin for the night, as you make your way to Halifax, in Nova Scotia.

Via Rail’s “The Ocean” train

Breakfast and lunch are both served onboard the train today, as you enjoy the stunning scenery of Nova Scotoia and New Brunswick passing by your window. You'll arrive into Halifax this evening.

The evening is yours to explore a little of Halifax. Head out for dinner in downtown Halifax, where you'll find many quality restaurants, including some incredible seafood restaurants. Take a wander around town, before returning to your hotel for the night.

Inbound Travel

Day 17 & 18 – Halifax to the UK

Your inspiring journey comes to its end today when you leave your hotel and transfer to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.

Today you'll arrive back into London, full of life-affirming experiences and lasting memories.
