Italian Engineering Works

In August 2023, an unforeseen landslide significantly impacted the rail connection between France and Italy, leading to disruptions across the scenic Maurienne Valley. Initially, we expected a quick recovery; however, the extensive damage means that Italian engineering works will likely continue until Summer 2024.

• Day 1 - London to Ulm Travelling on the Eurostar from London St Pancras this morning, we arrive at Paris Nord before making the short walk to Paris Est Station. From here, we continue by rail to the medieval city of Ulm, where we spend our first night.
• Day 2 - Across the Brenner Pass to Desenzano This morning, we continue our journey by rail to Verona via Munich, where the train weaves through the magnificent Brenner Pass. Arriving late afternoon at Verona, we transfer by coach to our hotel in Desenzano.

• Day 9 - Desenzano to Mulhouse We depart Desenzano today to begin our journey home. Travelling by coach to Milan, we join the train to via Basel to Mulhouse, where we check in to our hotel for the night.
