Grand Canyon Railway - Information & Tours

For 120 years, the Grand Canyon Railway has provided the experience of traveling to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon by train. This nostalgic journey captures the Wild West's untouched beauty and recalls train expeditions of long ago.

In all, the Grand Canyon Railway boasts 41 passenger cars, the most of any scenic railway in the United States. Most of these cars have standard stories that include service with other rail lines before their acquisition and refurbishment by the Grand Canyon Railway.

Whether guests select an upper-level viewpoint or watch the scenery unfold from the train's main level, the vistas are undeniably impressive. Leaving Williams, the train enters lush Ponderosa pine forests. It does not take long for the landscape to change once more, becoming flatter and transforming into expansive prairies. Pinion pine forests, steep-sided creeks, vast deserts, Native American settlements, and ever-changing flora are hallmarks of the journey.

But the excitement doesn't just pass outside the windows; instead, guests are treated to onboard entertainment provided by period characters. A Grand Canyon Railway Marshall meanders throughout the train, and singers croon to Old Western melodies. Guests may also meet members of the infamous Cataract Creek Gang. After 2 hours and 15 minutes of unrivaled beauty and railway lore, the train pulls into the Grand Canyon Depot at the Grand Canyon's South Rim.

Operating 364 days a year, the Grand Canyon Railway is a prime example of how rich history and modern amenities can join together to make for one unforgettable experience.
