Tour highlights
Day 1 - Christmas Eve arrival in Bath
Bath in Winter

This Christmas Eve you meet your group and Tour Manager in our hotel, the 4-Star Bailbrook House, where we are greeted with festive mince pies and mulled wine. This lovely hotel sits on the outskirts of Bath, and we also enjoy a delicious dinner together tonight.

Day 2 - Christmas Day
Bath Christmas Markets

Today is Christmas, and it is a day with a focus on relaxation, festivities, and food. This morning, we indulge in a celebratory Bucks Fizz breakfast before a morning at leisure. Why not relax in one of the beautiful and traditional lounges the hotel has to offer?

This afternoon, we are treated to a glass of champagne, prior to lunch, served in the hotel's elegant Lansdown room. Your time after lunch is also at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll around the beautiful parkland that surrounds the hotel, before we gather this evening for a light buffet dinner.

Day 3 - The Avon Valley Railway and the SS Great Britain on Boxing Day
SS Great Britain

After breakfast this morning, we head to Bristol, where we set off on a tour of the magnificent SS Great Britain. This elegant passenger steamship was designed by famed engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and was used to transport passengers all around the world.

Our next excursion is on board the beautiful Avon Valley Railway, which traverses through some of the most beautiful countryside that you can find in the south west of England. Following our visit, we return to the hotel where we enjoy a final dinner together.

Day 4 - Forest of Dean and Home
Roman Baths

Today, we embark on a steam-hauled journey on the heritage Dean Forest Railway, where we enjoy a lovely warming mince pie as we make the 4.5 mile journey that winds through the picture-postcard scenery of the quietly beautiful Forest of Dean.

Following our excursion, we transfer back to Bailbrook House, where you are then free to depart at your leisure.

Avon Valley Railway
Avon Valley Railway

Our journey on the heritage Avon Valley Railway takes us along the surviving section of the Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line, travelling through the region's charming scenery on a preserved train. The line runs for three miles between Oldland Common and the station at Avon Riverside, but for practical purposes our journey begins at Bitton, the intermediate station. On leaving the station, the train travels northwards, passing through the charming countryside that climbs away from the River Avon. Here the noise of the steam trains echoing around the lower valley creates an atmospheric sound.

Bailbrook House Hotel, Bath
