On many of our UK & Ireland tours, you may check in at the first hotel on your itinerary anytime after 14:00; your Tour Manager will be available between 16:00 and 18:00. However, if you are arriving later, you can meet your Tour Manager before dinner from 19:00.

Lindeth Howe Country House
Day 1

Meet at our hotel

We meet at our hotel this evening. either the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel or Low Wood Bay. Both hotels provide an excellent base to begin a Lakes adventure. We dine in the hotel this evening. If staying in Low Wood Bay, after dinner we are treated to a screening of Miss Potter by the Oxen Park Cinema Club charity.

Day 2

Steam Gondola on Coniston Water

This morning we begin with a tour of the Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Farm before taking a delightful trip on a steam gondola down Coniston Water. This afternoon we enjoy time in beautiful Grasmere, and a visit to the tiny Gingerbread Shop. Later we visit the Wordsworth Museum with a tour of Dove Cottage and a talk from the museum curator, accompanied by a reading of Wordsworth's poetry.

Day 3


Today we visit Muncaster Castle for a guided ghost tour of one of Britain's most haunted castles, before boarding the minimum gauge heritage Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. This steam-hauled journey showcases the grandeur of the Cumbrian countryside. We continue to Wastwater, voted Britain's Favourite view, Wastwater epitomises the beauty of the Lakes.

Day 4

Cruise on Windermere

This morning you have the option of spending time at leisure or taking an organised walk from the hotel. This afternoon we visit the Blackwell Arts & Crafts House for an informative talk before we take a journey on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. From here we embark upon our evening cruise on Lake Windermere, before a free evening in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Days 5-6

Ullswater, Keswick and our guest speaker

Today we take in some of the Lakes' iconic sights. We begin with travel over Kirkstone Pass, the Lake District's highest. We continue to beautiful Ullswater and then visit Castelrigg Stone Circle, a 4,000 year old historic attraction. We then visit the traditional market town of Keswick before venturing on to the Newlands Valley. After dinner we enjoy a talk from our guest speaker, Eric Robson of BBC4 Gardeners Question Time fame. On Day 6 you are free to depart.
