Itinerary

Day 1 - London to Oslo

Fly to the Norwegian capital of Oslo, transferring to your four-star hotel on arrival.

Once you've checked in, the rest of the day is yours to spend exploring the Norwegian capital. As the city's main museum hub, a visit to the Bygdøy Peninsula provides plenty in the way of cultural options. You could choose to visit the Fram Museum, the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History or learn more about Norway's tradition for adventure at the Kon-Tiki Museum.

Once you've finished exploring, head to the peninsula's Huk Park for stunning views over the Oslofjord.

Day 2 - Flam Railway

After an early breakfast, head to the rail station to catch your train to Myrdal. From here,l transfer onto one of the most beautiful lines in the world, the Flam Railway.

First opened in 1940, the Flam Railway connects the beautiful surroundings of Sognefjord with the Oslo- Bergen mainline. The railway's steep gradient offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, trundling past crystal- clear waterfalls, rugged canyons to reveal some of Norway's finest scenery.

On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of your day exploring, perhaps taking a walk through the dramatic Sognefjord.

Day 3 - Nærøyfjord and Bergen

Continue your journey through the fjords today, catching the ferry from Flam to Gudvangen. Spend your trip admiring the scenery as you float down the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. With its steep mountains, towering peaks and crashing waterfalls, this is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Norway.

Transfer from ferry to bus when you arrive in Gudvangen, which will take you to a stunning vantage point over the Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen waterfalls. From here, continue by rail to Bergen, and spend the rest of the day exploring this historic port city.

Day 4 - Bergen to Oslo

After breakfast, head back to Oslo via rail. Once you've arrived and checked into your four-star hotel, the day is yours to spend how you please.

You might like to continue exploring the capital's cultural delights, perhaps with a visit to the Edvard Munch Museum to learn more about one of Norway's most famous artists. You could also head to the National Museum, where his instantly recognisable 'The Scream' is displayed.

For some fresh air, incorporate a stroll around Gustav Vigeland's statues in Frogner Park, the largest sculpture park in the world - which also houses the country's largest rose garden.

Day 5 - Oslo to London

Your tour comes to an end as you transfer to Oslo Airport for your journey back to the UK.
