On many of our UK & Ireland tours, you may check in at the first hotel on your itinerary anytime after 14:00; your Tour Manager will be available between 16:00 and 18:00. However, if you are arriving later, you can meet your Tour Manager before dinner from 19:00.

Day 1

Hotel arrival with falconry

We meet at our hotel today, the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa. As we arrive we are greeted by a spectacular falconry demonstration in our hotel's grounds. We dine together tonight.

Day 2

Guided tour of Shrewsbury

Today we undertake a walking tour of Shrewsbury. Our guide is the town crier, at 7ft 2in he is the tallest crier in the world. Later we enjoy a boat trip on the Severn, as we sail by we see Shrewsbury Castle and the Welsh Bridge. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore further.

Iron Bridge
Day 3

Iron Bridge and Blists Hill

This morning we visit Iron Bridge - the world's first cast iron bridge. We then visit Blists Hill and see what life was like in the Victorian Era in this recreated Victorian Town. This afternoon we visit Bridgnorth, the town where Charles I lost his head, declaring the view to be the finest in all his kingdom. Perhaps climb between Low Town and High Town on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway before we end the day on the spectacular Severn Valley Railway.

Days 4-5

The Heart of Wales Line & Leisure

This morning we visit the award winning Battlefield 1403 deli before boarding the train for the Heart of Wales Line, listed as one of Britain's most scenic rail journeys. On arrival we transfer to our hotel, the Mercure Cardiff Holland House. This evening you enjoy a night to remember with a tour of Cardiff Castle followed by a fantastic banquet dinner in the Castle. You are at leisure in Cardiff on Day 5. Perhaps take an open top bus tour of the city or enjoy a boat trip across Cardiff Bay.

Blaenavon Ironworks
Days 6-7

Big Pit National Coal Museum

This morning we visit the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre before we see the fascinating National Coal Museum, where we are lowered 300 feet down the mineshaft for a captivating tour. Later we take a tour of Blaenavon Ironworks, and finally we make our return journey on the majestic Brecon Mountain Railway. This evening enjoy a private farewell dinner at the hotel followed by Dylan Thomas poetry readings and a Welsh Choir performance. On Day 7 you're free to leave Cardiff at your leisure.
